Dear Members of GCSC,
We are quickly heading into 2024 after an exciting 2023 when we re-established our programs and classes after the covid years. We had optimism for a solid resurgence this year, and 2023 turned out to be exactly that. With careful planning and assessment, we were able to maintain a high level of classes that were found to be more interesting and engaging with our membership. And as you well know, we will continue to evaluate our programs and classes to make things even more fun and exciting. To be up to date on our latest developments, please continue to visit our GCSC website www.goldencrane.org which also contains our Newsletter that is regularly posted.
We certainly would be a shell of an organization if not for the dedicated group of teachers and volunteers who dedicate an inordinate amount of their time and effort to work things out. To them we give our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for such a job well done. And let’s also give due gratefulness to all our members who make our programs and classes such a success.
As a reminder, please take note to send in the $60 membership dues which are due at the beginning of the year. Thank you in advance with your diligent and continued support.
GCSC wishes to separately acknowledge and express our deep thanks to the scores of our volunteers who truly make everything run effortlessly and efficiently. To this end, we strongly encourage you to volunteer at our events, as the experience is rather fulfilling to all concerned To do so, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Center Director to work out the arrangements.

星期五的晚上, 祝GCSC的會員大家有一個愉快的周末! 同時報告一個大好的消息, 那就是去年曾經停擺一次的夏日烤肉和健行雙胞並行活動, 就要在6月7日星期三盛大推出, 詳情請見所附海報.
The 2023 GCSC BBQ/Hiking event will be held on 6/7/2023. Please refer to the attached flyer for more info.
For those who are interested in joining the hiking activity please arrive at the Osage Park picnic site at 10 am. Stephen Lu will lead the participants to hike the paved trails through the neighborhood open spaces to the Greenbrook Elementary school and then walk the Iron Horse trail back to the Osage Park just in time to join the BBQ crowd. The hiking route is about 2.5 miles and we should be able to finish the hike in 1.5 hours. Dress comfortably. Wear hats and walking shoes. Bring drinking water. Hiking poles are optional.

(2) 12/8/22歲末聯歡會圓滿結束. 感謝Ken&Nora賢伉儷全程錄影並上載到康鶴微博網頁, 刊登在康鶴通訊第二頁的活動圖片都是從該錄影使用電腦頻幕打印技巧轉換而成, 中心的微博網址是
中心會員可以上網瀏覽上述的錄影以及其他有關中心的許多資料. 今年過後董事會和執行委員會的成員都將有一些調動, 中心會儘快把資料翻新.

(3) 從課程表可以看出, 增加了兩門新年度的課程, 星期二上午的針織課和星期三上午的生活花藝班. 但是基於班上師生的共同決定, 我們也流失了網上的素描課. 同時攝影班已決定恢復來到現場上課. 目前只剩下五門網上課程. 中心的長期構想是希望能取得有關課程師生的協和與同意, 把星期一和星期二白天上課的網上課程, 調開到晚間或其他周日的白天去上課, 以避免和現場課程時間的重疊.
FYI we have added 2 new classes (Crochet & Living Floral Design) to the January 2023 class schedule but we no longer have the Portrait Sketch class.

2022 Beginning-of-Year Address
From the GCSC Board of Directors and the Center Director
March 1, 2022
Dear Members of GCSC,
The first few months of 2022 have just flown by, and we wish you a belated Happy Chinese New Year.
This year is unfolding in much more of a positive direction than the past few years. The Covid pandemic, while it isn’t completely over, is trending to a much less severe situation. This is evident from the very high numbers of vaccinated people, and the significantly reduced number of cases. And we fervently hope that this trend will continue to improve.
As such, we are pleased to inform you that we are gearing up to hold more activities this year, as everyone is so eager to get back into full swing again. Our events committees are busy as spring bees organizing activities for this year, and we will keep you updated as soon as they are ready to be held. You can also check up on the event schedules by visiting the GCSC website www.goldencrane.org.
We are also very happy to announce that we have 3 new board members who joined us late last year. They are James Fu, Chongyih Li and Anita Wong. Their impressive qualifications, extensive experience and passionate commitment to GCSC are wonderful complements to those who currently serve. We warmly welcome them!
As a short reminder, please note that the membership fee for 2022 of $60 is due, and fee is due by March 31, 2022. (For last year, 2021, we had waived the dues because of GCSC’s inactivity caused by the pandemic.)

2022年的頭兩個月已經匆匆過去,向大家拜個晚年!
首先要告慰大家,新冠疫情雖然尚未完全過去,但是已經呈現大幅減弱的趨勢.極高比例的美國人民都已接受了疫苗,新增病例也大幅下降,預計這種正面的趨勢還會繼續下去.
體認到大家都在期待著中心的全幅開放,各個執行小組已經在忙著策畫和準備今年的各項活動.一旦構成定案就會盡快通知所有會員,各位也可到GCSC網站www.goldencrane.org 查詢.
同時欣然宣布並歡迎三位新的成員加入了董事會的陣容,他們分別是傅悅男James Fu,陳宗義Chongyih Li和吳芝音Anita Wong.他們的資歷經驗和熱心都充分搭配了現任董事會的成員.

各位會員康鶴耆英中心已決定繼續關閉至二月底. 雖然近一星期來加州的新冠疫情呈現了好轉的現象. 每日新增病例的七日平均值在一周內由11萬下降到6.6萬. 同周內測試正值率(positivity)也下降了4.3%而到達13.4%. 但是為了謹慎與安全起見, 康鶴耆英中心仍將繼續觀察新冠疫情的進展, 直到在以下的兩三周內疫情的好轉得到確認以後, 將會及時宣布並肯定3月1日的重新開門.祝新年好康鶴耆英中心敬上
Dear GCSC MembersGCSC has decided to extend its shutdown till the end of February. The Covid-19 has shown some improvements in the recent week ending on 2/1/22. The 7-day average daily new cases has recorded a drop of 110k to 66K while the test positivity has shown a 4.3% weekly drop to 13.4%. Nevertheless the re-opening of GCSC on March 1 is not guaranteed. GCSC will make announcement to confirm the re-opening in a timely fashion if the Covid-19 pandemic continues to show promising improvements in the next 2 to 3 weeks.Thanks.The Golden Crane Senior Center

各位會員請注意!* 美國地區COVID-19新增病例在1月10日(星期一)到達1.35百萬新高, 康鶴耆英中心決定自1月17日到2月6日關閉三星期, 在這期間所有現場課程都將停止, ZOOM課程仍然繼續, 有些現場課程會改成ZOOM方式上課, 各班老師或班長會各自通知班上同學. 至於關閉三星期後的復課問題, 中心會在2月6日前及時發布通知.* 灣區SONOMA COUNTY已發出指令, 自1月11日開始30天內, 禁止50人(COVID高險度人群為12人)以上的室內聚集, 並要求民眾除了就醫, 上學, 上班, 買菜等必須活動以外, 不要輕易離開家門. 以上指令提供中心會員做為參考. 大家多多保重!
Important Notice to GCSC Members!* Considering the recent peaking of Covid-19 new cases in the US, GCSC has decided to shut down for 3 weeks (1/17/22 – 2/6/22). All in-person classes will be suspended while Zoom classes will continue. Some in-person classes will switch to Zoom. It’s up to each individual class and the teacher or class captain will notify the classmates. You will be notified before 2/6/22 with regard to the re-opening of GCSC. * For your information and reference, the Sonoma County has issued a new health order (effective 1/11/2022 for the next 30 days) to limit the participants of indoor and outdoor events. It’s health officer also urges the residents to limit going out for only necessary trips such as health care, school, work, and grocery shopping. Thanks and take care of yourselves.

Dear members,
It’s been 6 months since our last activity which was the double birthday celebration on March 4, 2020. Since then a lot has changed, based on the health order from the Contra Costa County and for the safety of our members, we are forced to close the center and ceased all physical activities and classes.
Even though the center is temporarily closed, we have not stopped working, we have provided some of the classes via Zoom. We will have a monthly newsletter which can be found on our website, we will provide communication and information to our members either through email or on our website, we also welcome members to submit articles for our website, maybe even recipes! We will review all articles tomake sure they are appropriate for our website.
Even though we cannot have physical birthday party, we still want to recognize all the birthday members, we will like to recognize all the following September birthdays!

GCSC New Director July 2019
Dear GCSC members:
On July 25th, 2019, our Center Director, Ms.Gina Sun, resigned due to her personal matters. Gina is a devoted Director, she tirelessly managing the Center with enthusiasm and discipline. She has earned all the respects and appreciations. The board of directors would like her to continue her term until the end of this year but understood her situation, so regrettably accepted her resignation.
During Gina ‘s absence, the Center Vice Directors, Ms. Julianna Wang and Ms. Anita Wong, have faithfully exercised their duties and keep the Center function smoothly and effectively. For the remaining term of this year, the Board of Directors accepted the recommendation from Gina and appointing Ms Julianna Wang as the Director and Anita Wong as the Vice Director of GCSC. The appointments take effect immediately. Please welcome Julianna and Anita for their new position and give her your fully supports. For next year Center directorship, the Board will follow the GCSC BYLAWS and Organizational Guideline and open to public for nominations and volunteerism. 敬愛的中心會員： 七月廿五日, 中心主任Ms. Gina Sun 因個人因素無法兼顧中心事務提出辭呈。中心董事會盡力挽留並感謝Gina對中心的犧牲及貢獻。但也同時體諒她個人的困難而勉為其難接受了她的辭職。
在Gina 請假期間兩位中心副主任Ms. Julianna Wang 及Ms. Anita Wong 盡忠職守處理中心事務有條不紊有目共賭。董事會決定接受Gina 的推荐敦請Ms. Julianna Wang 和Ms Anita Wong接任中心主任及副主仼, 完成到今年底的任期。新任職務即時生效。 敬請會員們歡迎我們的新中心主任及副主任並且熱烈的給予支持。致於明年中心主任的甄選將依照中心章程公開接受提名及自我推薦，敬請熱心參與。 祝大家有個平安健康快樂的暑假。 Grace Chiu Chairman, GCSC Board of Directors
